Operation Reconnect: All about 'Family'
EPIC WIN
The announcement of Operation Reconnect is here
The 12th of April saw a further protest against Scientology. The theme of this protest was family, in particular those pulled apart by Scientology. This was in response to Scientology's disconnection policy of taking families outside of the cult out of a member's life. This has the effect of isolating the individual further from any support group outside of the Church of Scientology.
Successes
- We have been able to contact 2 people connected to Scientology Org in Edinburgh. They were not willing to come out in public because they felt that it could harm their well being. Anonymous understands their difficult situation, and respect their decisions.
- The edited down, open letter of resignation by Shiona Fox-Ness was read out and well received.
- An edited excerpt of Moira Hutchinson's testimonial was read out.
- A workshop in 'consensus decision making' was held. Much was learned, and we'll be able to become very organised on site if we ever need to in future.

Networking
An on-going effort will be made to find ex-scientologists and scientologist's family members to talk to us. Be wary that some may prefer to hide their identity. Be respectful of these wishes, but encourage them to get involved in some way.
The following are possible leads:
- Moira Hutchison - an ex-scientologist who was a high ranking member in the Edinburgh Org. -LEAD BEING FOLLOWED BY STORMTROOPERGUY
- FreeZone - Effectively a splinter group of Scientologists who believe in L Ron Hubbard's teachings, but object to the Church of Scientology's practices, namely the financial cost and criminal activities. They are termed 'squirrels' by Scientologists and have been subjected to litigation and repression.

Testimonials
The following people are former Scientologists from the Edinburgh Org. Their testimonials are quite damning.
Moira Hutchison
Ex-high-ranking-member of the Edinburgh Org. She has experienced their 'ethics' program and suffered. She joined Scientology at the age of 17, believing strongly in their technology, but was let down by the inhumane treatment she received from many of her superiors. Her full story. She is believed to be living in Canada at the moment, so will probably not be able to make it. Her story is still worth telling.
Shiona Fox-Ness
Shiona Fox-Ness was a high ranking member at the Edinburgh Org. She is now sadly deceased from cancer. She made a very public resignation in 1984. Her words are damning, leaving no allusions to the evils of Scientology. Open letter of resignation
