10th of May
From EdinburghLulz
The 10th of May saw another protest against the Church of Scientology, as there will be every month until our objectives are met. The theme of this month's protest will be Fair Game - the practice that Scientology adopts to silence their critics.

Operation 'Game Over'

Essential Reading
We need only quote Scientology's own literature to understand the savagery with which they attack their critics:
"ENEMY — SP Order. Fair game. May be deprived of property or injured by any means by any Scientologist without any discipline of the Scientologist. May be tricked, sued or lied to or destroyed." - L. Ron Hubbard
"A Suppressive Person or Group becomes 'Fair Game'. By Fair Game is meant, without right for self, possessions or position, and no Scientologist may be brought before a Committee of Evidence or punished for any action taken against a Suppressive Person or Group during the period that person or group is 'fair game'." - Hubbard, Introduction to Scientology Ethics (1967)
[on SPs] "They are each fair game, can be sued or harassed ... (2) Harass these persons in any possible way... (4) Tear up any meeting held and get the names of those attending and issue SP orders on them and you'll have lost a lot of rats." - Hubbard, "Amprinistics", HCO Executive Letter of 27 September 1965
"The DEFENSE of anything is UNTENABLE. The only way to defend anything is to ATTACK, and if you ever forget that then you will lose every battle you are ever in engaged in..." - Hubbard, in Ability, the Magazine of DIANETICS and SCIENTOLOGY from Phoenix, Arizona", Major Issue 1, published "circa mid-March 1955"
"The purpose of the suit is to harass and discourage rather than win. The law can be used very easily to harass, and enough harassment on somebody who is simply on the thin edge anyway, well knowing that he is not authorized, will generally be sufficient to cause professional decease. If possible, of course, ruin him utterly. " - Hubbard, Scientology's "red volumes" published in 1991. Volume III, pp. 40-66
"The practice of declaring people FAIR GAME will cease. FAIR GAME may not appear on any Ethics Order. It causes bad public relations. This P/L does not cancel any policy on the treatment or handling of an SP." – L. Ron Hubbard
The final quote above is particularly important, as it originates from a Policy Letter of 1968 which the CoS often state 'proves' that Fair Game policy is a thing of the past and is no longer practised. As can be seen in black and white, the policy states simply that the TERM 'Fair Game' should no longer be used, but the PRACTISE of it is unchanged. Furthermore, in 1995 during the Wollersheim Vs. CoS court case in the U.S., the Church argued that the Fair Game directive was a 'core policy' of Scientology and therefore constitutionally protected as 'religious expression'.
The “fair game” policy is responsible for the harassment of numerous scientology critics over the years. Operation Game Over will inform the public about this policy, as part of the ongoing efforts to bring this practice to an end. Anonymous should research examples of Fair Game tactics and know them well in order to communicate them to the public. Further information can be found in the 'External Information' section. Knowing the testimonies of local former Scientologists such as Moira Hutchinson [1] and Shiona Fox Ness [2] may help to be more direct with the public.
$cientology's policy towards critics both within and outside the church blocks even the possibility of the Church to reform. The ability to accept criticism is the cornerstone of any free society or organisation, and enables change and progress to occur in a democratic fashion. However, critics within the Church are punished (RPF'ed) or ex-communicated (blown), as deviation from the 'norm' is not tolerated. Scientology goes further, whereby instead of defending themselves when criticised, Scientologists are taught to attack, avoiding the issue of questioning their own actions and beliefs all together. Clearly LRH had a brilliant, if not twisted mind for the control of his subjects.
Anonymous' objectives are to highlight the effects of suppressing criticism on the functioning of the Church, but above all the abhorrent practices that they adopt in achieving this.
One example of a policy that has not changed since Scientology's foundation is its attitude towards homosexuals, classifying the practice as 'sexual perversion', an attitude shared by many in the 1950s. While the wider society has moved on from this prejudice, Scientology holds on to these outdated ideals, because it is unable to progress. LRH's own son killed himself because he was a homosexual.
